The Washington Senators had great hitting teams in the late '30's, and Buddy Lewis was a big reason why. In 1937 the Gastonia first baseman hit .314 with 210 hits.

Floyd (Pep) Young was a Jamestown native who played fairly regularly in the Pitsburgh Pirates' infield in the late '30's. Lifetime, he wound up at .262.

A third baseman from Mebane, Lew Riggs made the  NL '36 all star team and played in the '40 and '41 World Series. He hit .262 lifetime from 1934 - 42 .

If Eddie Moore looks grim, it's probably cuz he's with the New Orleans Pelicans and not in the majors. Being just about washed up might also have something to do with it.
