Misdemeanor on '27 Murderers' Row

The Yankees have long been attached to Bay area players. The first appeared after WW1 in Francisco Pezzola(Ping Bodie), and in 1925 they got two at once; Tony Lazzeri and Mark Koenig. A decent hitter, Koenig was a popgun among howitzers. Lifetime average .275.

Paul Derringer got his major league start for the Cards in the early thirties. Traded to Cincinnati in the Durocher deal,  he made two Series, over 200 wins and is one of the best pitchers not in the Hall of Fame.

Curley Ogden was pawn in one of  the World Series' best dramas. Starting pitcher in 1924's game 7, he forced Giant manager John McGraw to use his left handed lineup. After facing 2 batters Washington's  Bucky Harris pulled him for lefthanded George Mogridge, which forced McGraw to strip his bench. When Harris went with righthanded Walter Johnson in the 8th Sir Walter k'ed 5 men in 4 innings. That, plus several acts of God, won the Senators their only championship in 68 years.
